The concept for this website was a user generated, simplistic/interactive travel blog. We have achieved this. We have taken inspiration from Tumblr pages and instagram feeds. The idea of their simplicity is admirable but they are extremely common. So we took the format and added the interactivity (videos, user feedback and user generated images). I believe this has brought the much-needed diversity to our site.

My main role in this site was to produce the video and imagery. I edited several videos for the project using Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition and Adobe Photoshop. The process of editing was straightforward and all packages were self explanatory. The part of the editing that was time consuming was the cutting. I have taken much inspiration for my interviews from the current youtube and vine wave. On these mediums you see fast cuts making for humorous editing. This is fun to watch but it is time consuming. An example of this is “Diary of a badman” (follow link) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_k8i65VWdw

When choosing the sound files to use it was mainly based on how I felt when editing. For example with the interviews I edited the first 10-20 seconds to generate a clear mood in my head, then I selected the backing track that would go with it. When it came to the Ibiza experience video I had to pick the music first to make sure the videos fit to the drop of the beat.

Some of the main issues I experienced were when recording. We formatted our SD card by mistake and wiped all of our data once. The other issue with it was sound. Editing the sound levels was more difficult than anticipated. Partly due to the output only coming from one speaker. My other main issue was the quality of the video. The interview quality was poor and the lighting made it look unprofessional. In the future I would use lighting, a boom mic and a better camera.

In reflection I believe the site has achieved its goals and could with the right enthusiasm and maintenance be a success.
